Welcome to Corvette Renegades
We're glad you cruised in.

Guest are always welcome!

Corvette Renegades serves the greater Columbia, South Carolina area offering Corvette owners the opportunity to meet and enjoy their Corvette with other Corvette enthusiasts. If you are looking for a 'typical' Corvette club, one with lots of structure, rules and requirements, we aren't it. In fact, we work hard not to be typical. If you are looking for a group of Corvette owners who just like to have fun, really love their Corvettes, have a good time and enjoy the company of like individuals, then you have found the right place. We really do believe what our founding members said when they started this club:

"If it's fun, do it!"

Dave & Barbara Eaton, Sherri & Bill Sandy, Amy & Jim Brock

It was September 20, 2007, when the 6 founding members came together to form what is now referred to as "Corvette Renegades". The group agreed that the official date the club would be launched January 1, 2008. The original 6 were seeking to form a club where the emphasis was on fun for all members. It was quickly decided that the mantra of the club would be "If it ain't fun, don't do it".

Meeting at the Village Idiot in Five Points, where else, the founding members came up with what the new club would be about and set down the guidelines that would guide the club in the future. Their first decision was it would be a club open to Corvette owners only. We would not have an offical board of directors, but crew leaders. A Captain (Dave), Lieutenant (Bill), Quartermaster (Barbara), Navigator (Jim), Warrant Office (Amy), and Purser (Sherri).

A club name was decided on, Corvette Renegades, and from there on, the club started to grow. The main theme of having fun was the main purpose of the club and will be the main focus of this club from here on.

Although there isn't a true "board" to lead the club, there are Crew Masters, the original founding members. The Lieutenant, or XO, was designated as the one person who would serve as a liaison between the crew and the crew masters. The Lieutenant would be responsible to 'take out' the Captain, or mutiny, if needed.

To ensure that Corvette Renegades remains the club it was intended to be, the original six crew masters, or those available at the time, with a majority vote, reserve the right to take over the running of the club at their discretion if it appears that it is headed in a direction other than the original intent.  At the time such a move is anticipated the club will be notified of the plan to "reestablish to original" the Crew Masters.

The Crew Masters would serve for as long as they wished and when the time came that they no longer wished to lead the crew, the Crew Masters would come together to decide who would like to take over as Capt'n of the crew or other crew masters positions by general election or invitation by the sitting Crew Masters. Whoever leads the crew, the main emphasis of the Crew Masters must be, to have fun!

Crew Master Functions:

  • Captain - Guides the crew on the journey and keeps it fun! Conducts meetings.
  • Lieutenant (XO) - There to support and backup the Captain, and take him out by mutiny if crew requests.
  • Quartermaster - Logs the activities of the crew and maintains the inventory of the bounty.
  • Navigator - Sets the direction of voyages and works with crew to ensure they know what's coming up on future excursions.
  • Chief Warrant Officer - Works to track how many crew are aboard and keeps manifest of all crew information.
  • Purser - Tracks and counts the booty on board.

Kids'N Corvettes
Kid'N and Corvettes

Inspiring the next generation of Corvette owners and enthusiasts, Corvette Renegades members always enjoy allowing the younger generation to experience the thrill of sitting in a Corvette, getting behind the wheel and looking out over that beautiful long engine hood that only Corvette can offer. Like many of us, we hope this experience is something they will always remember and will be the driving force behind them one day wanting to own one for themselves.

What to expect from Corvette Renegades

Fun, that's what you can expect. Okay, to have fun, we do have to get together once in a while. The Crew meets once a month for Wednesday evening dinners at various locations. These gatherings are held on the first Wednesday of each month. Club meeting are held at various locations, often times a members home, on a quartely basis. Meeting notices are sent out via email about one week prior to the meetings. Check the club calendar for more information such as dates, times and locations for these events.

We try to have a club cruise once a month, usually on Saturday and usually within 50 miles or less of Columbia. Of course, we always end up with a place to eat. (See a theme here?)

How do we keep you informed as to what's going on and where the action is? EMAIL!! We communicate solely over the club's listserv (email) to all members. It's just the easiest way to communicate and if we're good at anything, it's finding the easy way to do something and places to eat.

Calendar

Corvette Renegades tries to keep our calendar updated with not only crew events and activities, but other regional and national Corvette and other car club events. Take a look at our calendar to see what's coming up that you might want to be a part of.
